Tile Floor - Residential
Floors with Schluter-DITRA and Schluter-RENO
Tiled floors are not only beautiful and durable, but also easy to clean and maintain when installed properly. More and more, homeowners are having tiled floors installed throughout their homes, beyond the traditional bathroom and kitchen areas.
To ensure that these tiled floors last a lifetime, proper underlayments, movement joints, and transition profiles should be installed.
Schluter edge-protection, movement joint, and transition profiles are extremely beneficial when tiling a floor. These profiles come in a variety of colors and finishes. Edge-protection profiles take the place of caulking at floor/wall connections, creating an appealing look and a more hygienic installation, while also allowing movement and reducing stress buildup. Transition profiles create a smooth transition between one floor covering and another, e.g., from a tiled kitchen floor to a living room carpet.
DITRA also provides waterproofing when combined with Schluter-KERDI-BAND in applications with no standing water (e.g., in laundry rooms and mud rooms, beneath a dishwasher, etc.).
The free space beneath the DITRA matting provides a route for the residual moisture in a freshly poured substrate to escape, allowing the installation of DITRA and the tile covering as soon as the slab can be walked upon—versus having to wait several weeks for the substrate to cure.
By combining DITRA with the appropriate Schluter profiles, a tiled floor can be installed in any room of the house.
