Height decrease in modular screed system!

Plattsburgh, NY - January, 2006

Schluter-Systems has redesigned the Schluter-BEKOTEC panel by decreasing its thickness from 1-3/4" to 1-3/8".  The reduced panel height allows the installer to screed the dry-pack mortar, poured gypsum underlayment, or lightweight concrete to the height of 2x4 or 2x6 partition wall base plates that are common in residential construction.

Schluter-BEKOTEC is a modular screed system that produces permanent flooring assemblies that are free from internal stresses.  The basis for this system is a studded polystyrene screed panel that confines curing stresses to small modules and eliminates curling and continuous cracks without any saw cuts or control joints.

The BEKOTEC system is particularly suited for radiant heat applications.  The polystyrene panel provides heat insulation, while the studs allow for the easy installation of hydronic radiant heat tubing without the need for fasteners.  The BEKOTEC system also uses less screed material than conventional applications, which reduces weight and allows the floor heating to respond quickly and operate at a low temperature range.
