Tiles are not inherently waterproof, however, and must be installed in conjunction with a waterproofing system that effectively manages moisture to protect moisture-sensitive building materials and control mold growth.
Assemblies achieved using the Schluter®-Shower System reduce total installation time and eliminate the risk of failures due to water and vapor penetration, thus preventing efflorescence and mold growth.

Waterproofing options
Schluter®-KERDI waterproofing membrane over solid backing
- Thickness: 8 mil (0.2 mm)
