Uncoupling solution for tile floor at Ice Cream Shop

Cows is a popular ice cream restaurant chain throughout Prince Edward Island and the Maritimes in Canada.  Their Charlottetown restaurant on Prince Edward Island sits on a wooden pier overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

In 1995, the restaurant owners decided to install ceramic tile on the floors, but were faced with the challenges of structural shifting and humid weather.

To counter these concerns, Schluter-DITRA was used as the underlayment because of its uncoupling and vapor management capabilities.

Over 1,200 sq. ft of DITRA was installed beneath the ceramic tile in the Charlottetown restaurant, and to this day there has been no cracking or damage to the tile covering.
