Versatile waterproofing system for tile showers at St-Anne's Hotel
In 2003, the St. Anne boutique hotel in old Quebec determined it would renovate its bathrooms. Because of its historic status, however, the hotel had to be careful not to alter the building's exterior in any way due to these changes.
The renovation work included new tiled showers, each of which had to be unique in design to accommodate the various shapes and sizes of the existing bathrooms. This created a situation in which the hotel needed not only a superior waterproofing system, but also one that was versatile enough to be used in any shower configuration.
The hotel chose the Schluter-Shower System. Schuter-KERDI, a sheet-applied waterproofing membrane, is extremely pliable, making it easy to install in any tiled shower. Once KERDI is thin-set to the walls of the shower, and adhered with thin-set to the bonding-flange of the Schluter-KERDI-DRAIN, a watertight system is formed.
St. Anne’s renovations were a success, and there have been no problems with water damage or leaking in the showers.
