For the channel, always measure from the center of the drain out to ensure a proper fit/alignment with the drain body.
For the grate, the ends have a full metallic section, consider evenly cutting both sides for an even finish. Variable speed angle grinder at medium/low speed is recommended or a band saw or hacksaw, (deburr after cutting).
